在男性不育的診斷過程中，應該對夫婦雙方的生育能力進行評估，在明確男性不育診斷的同時，應該排除配偶是否有不孕症存在，根據臨床表現，男性不育分為絕對性不育和相對性不育。前者指病人完全沒有生育能力，如無精子症，後者為自然生育能力下降，如少弱畸精子症等，依據有無使异性伴侶受孕的經歷，又將其分為原發性和繼發性男性不育。
